WATCH OUT FOR THE NEXT FASHION SHOW AND SALE ON

FRIDAY 20 JUNE AT 7 PM IN FAIRBURN COMMUNITY CENTRE

The Christmas Fashion Show was, once again, a resounding success and raised almost £700 for our charities.  Well done to everyone who helped in any way, but especially to our 6 models,  Truly a fun evening for all concerned and with great bargains as well.

Click on the photo of Rachel, the model, to see the others.

But a huge thank-you also goes to Max who co-ordinates the outfits and dresses the models and Janet, who works tirelessly all year round to collect the items for sale.

It’s summer time, so come along and enjoy an evening of wonderful entertainment and music at St Wilfrid’s Church in Brayton.

Starting at 7.30 pm, this concert is the 3rd visit to the venue for The Fairburn Singers.  There will be a variety of songs and ask The Singers about their recent visit to Vienna.  It has been a busy time for them.

And now for something a little different..  We are joining the children from Fairburn Primary School for an evening of singing and fun.

Each choir will perform individually and then join together with songs from Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

This promises to be a heart-warming evening and one not to be missed.

Mums, Dads, Grandmas, Grandads, Aunties and Uncles are all very welcome,  Hope to see you all there!

The very popular Summer concert will be a little different this year.   We are joined by 2 guests.  The first is a Composer and Pianist from Latvia, who has written a piece of music about Gaia – the personification of the Earth.  Our second guest is Anthony Thompson – local Trumpeter who joined us at Selby Abbey, we enjoined the collaboration so much, we’re looking forward to singing with him again.

Ēriks Eglītis, our composer from Riga wrote his music about the birth of the universe – the music then had words written for it by a member of Fairburn  Singers – Helen de Voy.  This will be the first time it is performed in public!  There are exhibitions about Gaia, the beginnings of the world, in many locations around the country throughout the year and this is our version.

Anthony Thompson is another talented musician with 25-years’ experience.  He began his musical training at The Salvation Army in Castleford, progressing through a music scholarship to Ackworth School and Hull University, where he graduated with an Honours Degree in Music.  He is one of the busiest trumpeters in the North of England
