The Fairburn Singers
is a 40-strong SATB choir, which celebrated 25 years in 2015, singing an eclectic mix of secular and sacred music, including items as diverse as Fauré’s ‘Cantique de Jean Racine’, ‘Tribute to Queen’ and……. For The Beauty of The Earth!
Led and accompanied by remunerated professional musicians, the choir performs around eight concerts a year in a wide variety of venues, ranging from church halls to Temple Newsam House, The Meeting House at Ackworth School and Selby Abbey.
A number of social events are held throughout the year, including an annual dinner early in the year (which has thus far included a choir written and performed pantomime) and a summer BBQ.
